Privacy and Cookie Policy

Our Commitment To Your Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, the following notice explains what information we collect, how it is used, what choices you have, how you can access it, how it is safeguarded, what you can do if you believe this policy has not been met, and how we notify you of changes. This policy applies to www.movingupgaragedoors.com and to orders placed with Moving Up Garage Door Company by phone or email.

What Information Is Collected

As part of the order process, the following information is collected from shoppers: name, shipping and billing address, email address, phone number, and credit/debit card information.

In addition, our website uses cookies that are necessary for the site to function — for example, to keep the items in your shopping cart, remember your session while you check out, and keep your connection secure. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites.

Like most websites, our web server automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This information is used only to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the site.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

How That Information Is Used

Customer information is used solely to process, fulfill, ship, and support your order — including verifying payment, arranging delivery, handling returns or warranty claims, and contacting you about your order.

We do not sell, rent, or trade customer information. We share information only to the limited extent needed to complete your purchase, and only with:

• PayPal, our payment processor, which handles all credit card, debit card, and PayPal transactions;
• Shipping carriers (such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS) and, when an item ships directly from the manufacturer or supplier, that supplier, so the order can be delivered; and
• Law enforcement or other parties when we are required to do so by law, or to protect against fraud or misuse.

These parties are permitted to use the information only to perform the service they provide for us.

Choice — Your Options About Collection And Use

Providing your name, address, phone number, email address, and payment information is required only in order to complete and ship a purchase. If you prefer not to provide it online, you may place your order by phone instead.

We do not add customers to marketing or newsletter lists without their consent. If we ever contact you with a promotional message, every message will include an unsubscribe link, and you may also opt out at any time by emailing info@movingupgaragedoors.com or calling 877-379-4947. Opting out of promotional messages will not affect the order-related messages we must send you (order confirmations, shipping notices, and service messages).

You may control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Please note that because our cookies are used for cart and checkout functions, blocking them may prevent you from completing an order.

You may also ask us to stop using your information for any purpose other than what is legally required for records of a completed transaction.

Access — Reviewing, Correcting, And Deleting Your Information

You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete, and to request that it be deleted.

To make a request, contact us by email at info@movingupgaragedoors.com, by phone at 877-379-4947, or by mail at the address listed below. Please include your name and the email address or order number associated with your purchase so we can locate your records.

We will verify your identity before releasing or changing any information, and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so except where we are required to retain certain transaction and tax records by law; in that case we will tell you what we must keep and why. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain the reason in writing.

Note that full credit and debit card numbers are held by PayPal and are not retrievable or viewable by us.

Security — How Your Information Is Stored And Protected

We take commercially reasonable steps to protect your information both online and offline:

• All pages that collect personal or payment information are encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS (HTTPS).
• All card and PayPal payments are processed by PayPal, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. Payment details are submitted directly through PayPal’s secure system; we do not store full card numbers on our own systems. Our own handling of payment information is PCI-DSS compliant.
• Order and customer records are kept on password-protected, access-controlled systems, and are accessible only to the employees who need them to fulfill orders or provide customer service.
• Any paper records containing customer information are kept in a secured location and shredded when no longer needed.
• Employees are instructed to keep customer information confidential, and we retain personal information only as long as needed to fulfill orders, provide support and warranty service, and meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any required authorities as promptly as required by applicable law, including the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act.

Please do not send full credit card numbers to us by email; email is not a secure channel.

Redress — If This Policy Is Not Met

If you believe we have not followed this Privacy Policy, or you have a question or complaint about how your information was handled, please contact us first so we can make it right:

Notice Of Change

If we change this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Effective Date” shown at the top so you can always tell when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

If a change materially affects how we use or share information we already collected from you, we will provide additional notice — such as a notice on our home page or an email to the address associated with your account or recent order — before the change takes effect, and where required by law we will obtain your consent. We will not apply a materially different use to previously collected information without giving you notice and the opportunity to opt out.
