Garage door rollers are the wheels that ride inside your door’s tracks and let it open and close smoothly. Worn rollers are one of the most common causes of a noisy, jerky, or sticking garage door — and replacing them is one of the easiest upgrades you can make. We stock replacement nylon and steel rollers in standard 1.75″ diameter, with a range of ball-bearing counts and stem lengths, sold individually or in money-saving sets of 10 and 12.

How to Choose Garage Door Rollers

Three things determine the right roller for your door:

• Material — nylon vs. steel. Nylon rollers run quietly and don’t need lubrication, making them the popular choice for attached garages. Steel rollers are durable and economical but noisier. For the quietest door, choose precision sealed nylon rollers.
• Ball-bearing count. More bearings means a smoother, longer-lasting, quieter roller. We carry 10-, 11- and 13-ball rollers — 13-ball and sealed rollers are the best for smooth, quiet operation.
• Stem length. The stem is the shaft that inserts into the door’s hinge or bracket. We stock 4″, 7″ and 9″ stems — 4″ is standard on most residential doors; longer stems are used on the top fixture and some commercial setups. Match your existing stem length.

A standard sectional garage door uses about 10 rollers (two per section plus the top fixtures), so we sell rollers in sets of 10 and 12 as well as singly. Replacing all your rollers at once gives the smoothest result and the best value — they all wear at a similar rate.
